As a destination wedding photographer, we often dream of traveling to a unique destination for a wedding day. Creatives love to explore, finding new and beautiful places to fuel our artistic energy. Like most photographers, I have an enormous mental list of places I would absolutely be honored to photograph a wedding at someday. While the list may be super long, here are just a few – in no particular order – that I would love to photograph!
The Olana – Hickory Creek, Texas
A luxurious European styled mansion, The Olana was built as an homage to the grand Chateaus in Paris, France. The estate features lush landscaping, a tea room, both an indoor and outdoor pool, marble floors, sweeping ballrooms, and so much more. This venue is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, made for couples who want to experience extravagant beauty.
Lowndes Grove – Charleston, South Carolina
Surrounded by 14 acres of live oak groves and peaceful river views, Lowndes Grove is downtown Charleston’s last great waterfront estate. Features of this idyllic estate include a picturesque waterfront view, circa 1786 architecture with period furnishings, and – of course – the Grand lawn with the Main House as a stunning backdrop.
The Hillside Estate – Denton, Texas
Want a French inspired luxury wedding venue just outside of Dallas? Look no further than The Hillside Estate. The 17,000 square foot estate is located on 16 acres that is nestled among rolling hills with scenic views of the valley and lake. There are multiple ceremony locations (the chapel, hillside, and courtyard) and stunning bride and groom suites that are the perfect start to any wedding day.
The Swan House – Atlanta, Georgia
This grand and historic home is the perfect setting for an upscale wedding day. The Swan House might be located in the bustling city of Atlanta, but – once you step foot on the property – this majestic house will sweep you off your feet to another world! With private gardens, historic architecture, and a lavish front lawn, this venue has everything a luxury wedding needs!
The French Farmhouse – Collinsville, Texas
Looking for a French inspired venue but with a rustic twist? Then The French Farmhouse is just for you! This one-of-a-kind venue gives couples a variety of indoor and outdoor options, including a newly constructed Chapel. Both the venue and Chapel are home to architectural rental pieces, vintage cars and a couple’s prayer trail to make any wedding day special!
Walt Disney World – Orlando, Florida
This location probably needs no introduction! I mean, it’s the ultimate place for Happily Ever After! Walt Disney World is home to numerous wedding locations on their property. However, the ultimate in grandeur is probably the romantic Disney Wedding Pavilion, nestled beside the Grand Floridian Resort. It is truly the perfect place to bring to life the fairy tale wedding of your dreams.
Chateau Cocomar – Houston, Texas
Another French inspired venue in the South is Chateau Cocomar. The enchanting European-castle like venue is rich with elegantly designed architecture, imported antiques, Italian hand-painted murals and marble floors. Outside are manicured European gardens that add a feeling of elegance to any event.
Ivy Rose Barn – Rocky Mount, Virginia
Introducing The Ivy Rose Barn – a luxury farm wedding venue nestled on a 70 acre family owned farm, featuring breathtaking scenery of rolling hills and mountain views. Designed and operated by a destination fine art wedding photographer, every inch of the wedding venue was intentionally designed for the romantic couple! And we can’t forget the spacious greenhouse, which is one of the most tranquil and romantic spaces on the property.
Boxwood Manor – Tomball, Texas
Where southern chic meets modern luxury – meet Boxwood Manor! This new event space boasts multiple spaces to fit any couple’s needs, including a chapel, a lush lawn, and upstairs lounge. Most impressive are the separate bride and groom cottages. The bride’s is the most picture perfect spot for getting ready photos! The groom’s cottage has everything a guy could need on his wedding morning – including an xbox, pool table, and outdoor putting green!
Providence Vineyard – Hebron, Illinois
Another new venue I’ve recently added to my list – Providence Vineyard. This all white, vintage, glam barn venue is nestled within 30 acres of gently rolling hills and grapevines, and provides the perfect palette for bringing any wedding day vision to life. With its soaring wood ceilings and vintage white walls, the barn combines modern, chic elegance with rustic, industrial vibes.
