Estelle and Michael’s early May wedding in Baton Rouge, Louisiana was the perfect blend of romance, faith, and joyful color. From a sacred Catholic ceremony at Christ the King at LSU to a vibrant reception overlooking the Mississippi River at the Shaw Center River Terrace, their wedding day felt intentional, meaningful, and full of love from start to finish. Even though the forecast threatened rain all week, their wedding day surprised us with beautiful sunshine and warm spring air! It was the kind of day that feels like a gift. Everything about this celebration reflected who Estelle and Michael are: sweet, joyful, and deeply rooted in their love for each other and their faith.
The Baton Rouge Wedding Day
Their ceremony at Christ the King at LSU was one of the most meaningful parts of the day. Their Catholic faith is incredibly important to them, and the ceremony felt sacred, reverent, and full of emotion. One of the most thoughtful personal touches were their His & Her prayer card favors, a beautiful way to share their faith and gratitude with their guests. And in true Louisiana fashion, they paired that sentimentality with Slap Ya Mama to-go packets, creating the perfect mix of heartfelt and fun.
Estelle was absolutely stunning in an ethereal, flowy gown from Alex Veil. It was effortlessly romantic and perfect for a spring wedding. Michael looked timeless in a classic blue suit, complementing the overall palette beautifully. One of my favorite design elements of the day was the bridesmaids’ mismatched colorful dresses, each paired with a bouquet that matched the color of their gown. The result was vibrant, joyful, and so uniquely Estelle. LKB Floral Designtruly knocked it out of the park with lush, colorful florals that brought the entire vision to life.
Details & Emotional Moments
Every detail felt intentional—from the flatlay details at the start of the day to the thoughtfully designed reception space. A standout detail I’ll never forget? The lovebirds perched atop the wedding cake! It’s a sentimental family heirloom and such a sweet symbol of Estelle and Michael’s love. Guests also enjoyed a king cake table, keeping the Louisiana spirit alive and adding a fun, unexpected touch to the reception.
These personal elements made the day feel not just beautiful, but deeply theirs.
Estelle chose to do multiple first looks: with Michael, her bridesmaids, and her dad. But the most touching moment of the day was her first look with her grandfather. The tears of joy in his eyes as he saw his granddaughter in her wedding dress was one of those moments that stops time. It was quiet, emotional, and incredibly powerful.
As a photographer, those are the moments I live for.
Estelle is someone who truly values details, which is one of the reasons we were such a great fit. She cared deeply about every element she chose and I made it a priority to intentionally build time into the timeline to capture those details – from her carefully styled flatlay in the morning to the reception design later that evening.
Estelle and Michael’s wedding day was a true reflection of who they are: romantic, joyful, faithful, and full of color. It was such an honor to document this beautiful Baton Rouge wedding and preserve these memories for a lifetime.
