There’s something special about a bridal session at The Southern Hotel. This historic venue is the perfect place for a stunning bride to showcase her look. When Ayshe decided to have her bridal session here, where her wedding would later take place, I was thrilled! Long sunlit hallways and unique stairways called to us!
The Southern Hotel is located in the center of charming Covington, Louisiana. Located just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, the Southern Hotel’s history of hospitality began in 1907. The hotel ceased operation in the 1960s but later reopened – and reimagined – in 2014. The historic, boutique inn is now a beloved gathering place for weddings, receptions, meetings, or just a sweet weekend getaway.
Ayshe’s bridal look was absolutely breathtaking! The layers of her dress flowed down as she walked and twirled through the iconic window lit hallway. This was the perfect location for a mid-day shoot. And let’s not forget her long veil, which was great for some fun shots too!
Typically I don’t photograph sessions at mid-day or early afternoon because the sun is too bright. That’s why it’s a great option to find a location that has indoor options for portraits too! The sun glow will usually hit just right through the windows at that time of day.
Ayshe returned to The Southern Hotel to wed her groom Nathan in early June. Be on the lookout for images of their celebration very soon! Congrats to the new Mrs. Rhodes!
